POLYPROPYLENE LOCKING COMBO® VALVE WITH SEPTUM
  • On/Off valve function with septum in a single unit is economical.
  • Lightweight, making it easier to carry in the field and reduces shipping costs.
  • Made of inert polypropylene to ensure purity of sample and non-contamination.
  • Push/Pull (On/Off) valve stem for quick, easy opening and closing of valve (< 1 second).
  • Faster than "twist action" valves.
  • Quick locking function, in closed position. Locked position is easy to verify visually, and prevents accidental sample loss during shipment
  • Virtually impossible to open or close valve too far
  • Valve Stem is 3/16" diameter
  • Fluoropolymer faced septum, with Ultra-low bleed silicone, prevents contamination and is located in base flange of valve with bag film below, so septum does not come into contact with sample inside bag.
  • Septum allows repeated punctures with syringes without leakage
  • Designed, Patented and Manufactured by Jensen Inert Products specifically for gas sampling applications.
  • Prices include Locking Combo® Valve with septum.
  • 3/16 OD stem for use with most 1/4" OD plastic and fluoropolymer tubing.
  • Bags with grommets available.
  • Bags with multiple fittings available.
  • Custom sized bags available.

Valve/Fitting Features

N/A

  • On/Off valve function with septum in a single unit.
  • Lightweight.
  • Made of Inert polypropylene.
  • Push/Pull (On/Off) valve stem.
  • Quick Locking function, in closed position, with visual confirmation. No tools required.
  • Fluoropolymer faced septum, with Ultra-low bleed silicone.
  • Designed, patented and manufactured by Jensen Inert Products.

Film Key Features

N/A

  • ALTEF is a proprietary fluoropolymer film developed specially for the air sampling market.
  • ALTEF meets or exceeds many of the desired characteristics of Tedlar®.
  • Unlike Tedlar®, ALTEF does not exhibit background levels of DMAC and phenol.
  • ALTEFexhibits similar stability properties as Tedlar® for a wide variety of compounds, including most VOCs.
  • Low VOC and sulfur background levels.
  • Contains no additives, fillers or pigments.
  • Minimal adsorption.
  • Superior storage for organics.
  • Abrasion Resistant.

Suggestion

N/A

  • Before use, thoroughly flush bags with ultra-pure nitrogen or zero air
  • During sampling, Fluoropolymer tubing and Fluoropolymer faced septums must be used in order to prevent sample loss.
  • Bags should not be filled to more than 80% of their maximum volume.
  • Charcoal (Black) Tedlar® bags should be used when sampling light sensitive compounds
  • Do not store compounds in bags long term due to the possibility that chemicals may adsorb onto the bag surface.
  • Bags should not be used to collect reactive or unstable compounds.
  • When shipping bags, do not air-ship unless the bags are stored in a pressurized area.

Film Properties

N/A

  • Developed specifically for gas sampling applications
  • Chemically inert to most acids, aliphatic and aromatic organic compounds, chlorinated solvents, and alcohols
  • Maximum operating temp: 260 ºF
  • ALTEF bags are made of 0.003" thick film.
  • Tensile Strength 6100 psi

Film Advantages

N/A

  • Suitable for sampling most VOCs and many sulfur compounds
  • Low VOC background
  • Longer sample storage times than most other bag materials
  • Does not exhibit background levels of DMAC or phenol, as Tedlar® does
  • Lower permeability than Tedlar® to CO2, N2, CH4
  • Superior resistance to solvents

Film Limitations

N/A

  • More permeable to most compounds than Tedlar® (0.003" thick versus 0.002" for Tedlar® Bags)
  • Not suitable for sampling ketones and esters in high concentrations (>30 %)
  • Less resistance to UV light than Tedlar®
  • Many sulfur compounds should be analyzed within 24 hours.
  • More expensive than Tedlar®

Valve/Fitting Benefits

N/A

  • Economical: Cost savings in manufacturing is passed on to customers.
  • Reduces shipping costs. Easier to carry multiple bags into the field.
  • Ensures purity of sample and non-contamination.
  • Quick, easy opening and closing of valve (< 1 second).
  • Faster than "twist-action" valves.
  • Locked position is easy to verify visually, and prevents accidental sample loss during shipment. Virtually impossible to open or close valve to far.
  • Located in base flange of valve with bag film below, so septum does not come into contact with sample inside bag. Septum allows repeated punctures with syringes without leakage. Ultra-low bleed silicone prevents contamination.
  • Designed specifically for gas sampling applications.
